BADASS FIGHTER IS BADASS

May 26th, 2008 by Kuro

Hello Jerkpop. Do you know what upcomming fighting game I’m most excited for? No, its not Street Fighter IV, no its not Soul Calibur IV (although the fact that Shura is in it, who was created by Hiroya Oku (of gantz fame) makes me soooo happy), nor is it even the Final Fantasy Dissidia, the FF fighter comming out on the PSP. I’m most excited for Blaz Blue. Have you not heard of this game? Its by the creators of Guilty Gear, my favourite fighting series, and is pretty much a spiritual succesor. Any fan of 2d fighters needs to get this. Here is the trailer folks!

There’s really not much I’m posting about other than to let people know that yes, I am alive. There are reasons I haven’t been posting, namely that I can’t think up a good story. What is the solution, you ask? Videos! I saw this gem running around the IRC, and then was commanded by Stig to watch it, so here you go.

What the hell… (A Gyakuten Kenji Rant)

May 5th, 2008 by Kuro

According to Court Records, in Edgeworth’s upcomming game, Phoenix Wright will have no more of an appearance than a mere cameo. This is a travesty. I could handle Phoenix not being the main character in Ace Attourney 4, hell, AA4 ended up being the best of the games in my opinion, but.. no more than a cameo? WRIGHT DESERVES MORE THAN THIS! What the hell are the developers at capcom thinking? Edgeworth is quite awesome (though Godot and Klavier are even more so), but wouldn’t be anything without Wright. First with the 3d person investigations, 2nd with the No trials, 3rd with the no wright? Will Gyakuten Kenji even be a good game?

“So As I Pray, Yo Quiero Taco Bell.”

I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death…
Nor known to life.
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works

I’m sure none of you Type-Moon or Fate/Stay Night fans are unfamiliar with Archer’s Noble Phantasm, “Unlimited Blade Works”, but are you familiar with “Yo Quiero Taco Bell”?

Some very awesome members over at the Mirror-Moon forums has made a parody of Archer’s UBW in Mexican style. View original post here.

 tacobellubwresize.jpg

I am tortilla of my burritos.
Oily is my beef, unwashed is my lettuce.
I have rolled over a thousand taquitos.
Unknown to burgers.
Nor known to fries.
Have withstood pain of diarrhea.
Yet, those hands have never been washed.
So, as I pray “Yo Quiero Taco Bell.”

I’m not sure about you guys, but I think this is even better than the original Unlimited Blade Works…

Archer

For all the people who have heard of the Game/Anime Fate/Stay Night, you may be interested in hearing that Mirror Moon has finally released the second translation patch for Fate/Stay Night. The installer not only translates both the Fate and Unlimited Blade Works scenarios, but if you have a copy of Realta Nua (the PS2 version of the game) it will extract the voice files from the PS2 game and install it along with the translations. All the more reason to love the Mirror Moon guys.

Chances are, if you’ve already started playing this game, you’ve been waiting for a long time for this patch (like Nis and I), or you already know about it and are already playing it. I’m just putting it out there for anyone who hasn’t heard yet.

P.S. I love Type-Moon. I also love Mirror Moon for translating Type-Moon visual novels.

Where men turn into Were-Tacos in the moonlight, only to wreak havoc upon the clown filled country-side. Where hippies, frat boys and pirates war for the control of the mysterious island of mystery. Where men can be judged by not the amount of cash they have, but by the amount of meat in their pants (meat is the currency). Where an Adventurer is You!

Kingdom of Loathing is a free Semi-Single Player online web game that focuses heavily on parodical and satirical humour. Your quest is to free King Ralph XI from the Naughty Sorceress’ clutches. Every item description, quest, attack message and quest is either a joke, a reference or both.

Army of Two ain’t half bad…

March 11th, 2008 by TubeOxen

Back to Back.

If you haven’t heard already, I went out and bought Army of Two just the other week. After playing through the campaign one and a half times already, and messing around on the multiplayer for about an hour, I’m going to have to say, this game isn’t half bad.

Army of Two definitely revolves around the cooperative play. If you don’t have friends, you probably won’t like it. There are also a few small bugs in the campaign and the controls aren’t entirely perfect, so chances are if you get frustrated over small things you won’t like it either, but you probably won’t like it anyways because people who get frustrated easily don’t usually have friends to play coop games with anyways.

You can read more of my opinions on it after the jump.

Super Smash Brother Brawl doesn’t work on Wii? WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?

March 10th, 2008 by Nis

SSBB WRYYYYYY!?

The highly anticipated Super Smash Brothers Brawl is finally out in North America. Too bad that it didn’t come out smoothly though. There have been more than a handful of Wiis that have trouble reading the disc. The same thing happened with the Japanese release and it seems like North America doesn’t have it any better.

failure wii

According to Nintendo, this error is caused by the Wii’s lens being dirty and you must send it in for them to clean it for you. They also warn you not to clean the lens by yourself as you might break it. However, I’m not convinced. Read about my suspicion after the jump.

Following up on Nis’ post, everyone here at JerkPop loves a delicious trap. (If they say they don’t, they’re just in denial.)

So I thought I’d share this post at Densetsu-Shoujo.com– about an eroge trap popularity contest that’s being run at Moon Phase. D-S post has an English-language list and images of all of the traps who are up for debate, plus instructions on how to vote in Moon Phase (which, of course, is in Japanese). You just need an LJ account…although I couldn’t get it to accept mine. Fortunately, I have an account at Hatena, so I was able to register my votes (for Jun from Happiness! and Yukiji from H2O ~footprints in the sand~, natch).

If you go through all the traps (and why wouldn’t you? THEY’RE DELICIOUS!), you may notice a couple of them actually look…like dudes. So of course, I went looking for the info for y’all!

In the case of Honjou Masami from Gakuen Toukou Shashin, he actually apparently dresses as a guy but gets mistaken for a girl anyway (I’m guessing that in his path in the eroge, he gets dressed up).

As for KiraKira’s Shikanosuke Maejima, he’s the main character and he plays in an all-girls band, so he is traptastic…but for some reason, D-S chose to offer the male picture of him. If you go to the official character page and mouse over the image, you’ll see him in trap form. I kinda wanna play this game, actually.

Enjoy, trap-lovers. ♥
