Who You Gonna Call? Not This Ad Company!
Topless Robot shares a truly blah ad from the WonderCon program book for something Ghostbusters-related at San Diego Comic Con later this year.

Now, before I move on to speculation, let’s talk about this ad. Specifically, let’s talk about how dumb it looks. First, it looks ugly. Second, it looks oldschool and cheap, and not in an amusing fashion. Third, it looks like it’s got a bad location– it appears to be next to some kind of ad for an OEL manga. Ghostbusters deserves a full-page glossy ad, bitches! (No matter what Kuro tells you.)
And finally, if you’re going to talk about something in “the neighborhood,” why not use the goddamn lyrics of the still-well-known hit single from the original movie in your series?! That would mean saying SOMETHING STRANGE IS COMING TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. “Exciting” is such a meaningless word. If you’re not going to tie in the lyrics, can’t you at least use something more descriptive?
Right then, on to the speculation. Rob doesn’t seem inclined to think that it’s going to be a new movie. HOWEVER! You may notice a little red box in the upper-left corner. That would be my doing; it’s a zoom-in of a little spot I noticed on the poster. At first glance I thought it said “PC” (so it would refer to the previously announced game, or perhaps a new game project– maybe a Ghostbusters MMO?).
But when I looked at it further I couldn’t deny that the little black box around the letters makes it look an awful lot like the MPAA’s PG rating, which WOULD imply a movie. But another possibility? Well– TV has a PG rating, too.
So, either something is going on with the Ghostbusters game (which is, by the way, due out in Fall– shortly after SDCC, so it could just be an attempt to drum up excitement), or there’s a new game in the works, or possibly a new movie or TV series.
WE SHALL SEE. What do you think it’ll be?
