Soul Calibur IV after a couple of days

Well, I have now played SC4 for a few days and can stick in my real thoughts.
SC4 looks pretty, has alot of fun elements, and makes me want to learn to play the game well. It’s pretty, it’s crazy, and it’s got jubblies (always a plus).
Modes: SC4 has plenty of modes to play around in. It has the standard story mode, well equipped with an overly dramatic announcer and a beutiful, yet epic, musical score. It also has a standard arcade mode. Fight against 8 fighters in 8 separate stages to win. Beat arcade mode with yoda and unlock the Apprentice (not the TV show) from the upcoming game, The Force Unleashed. There is also a tower mode. Beat 20 stages of fighters to climb the tower, then beat more stages to descend, racking up extra items for the character creator. There is a standard 2 player vs mode for you and a friend to play and an online mode for those wanting to fight others on the internetz.
Character: All the standard Soul Calibur characters are present, along with a new boss, and new characters unlocked through story mode. My personal favorite players are Maxi and Xianghua (of however thats spelled). There is also a character creator mode where you design a character by chosing a fighting style from the many available characters, and build upon that with power-ups and different clothing that gives you higher stats. New characters are The Apprentice, Yoda, and Darth Vader. I play the Xbox 360 version, so I had Yoda and The Apprentice to play around with. Yoda is kind of a novel character, he feels weird to play. The Apprentice is strong, with a neat style of fighting and heavy use of the force.
Gameplay: Standard Soul Calibur here. Pick a character, kick some ass, pick a different character, kick more ass. It’s fun though, especially with the character creator. The more you play with a certain fighting style, the more you level that style up, and the better it fights. Beware, though, as it is easy to be cheap in this game.
Overall, it’s forth a purchase or a rental just to say you played it. The only folks really getting a deal are those that love their fighting games (especially when arcade controls are involved).
I give it 7.5-8.5/10 jerks, depending on how much you like the Soul Calibur series.
